Here we have the highest and most undulated of the three central plains of the Pollino massif. Climbing its terrace-like knolls, the view opens gradually for the charming and suave west slopes of Serra delle Ciavole (to the right) and Serra di Crispo (to the left). The impressive Pinus heldreichii (ital. Pino Loricato) is increasingly dominating the backdrop. Aiming for the lowest point on the horizon, it should be hard to miss the Grande Porta del Pollino (‘Great Pollino Gateway’) at an altitude of 1957m / 6420ft.
